Thugs Attack OYSIEC Officials in Okeho Ahead of Local Govt Election

Suspected political thugs have attacked officials of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) in Okeho, Kajola local government area, ahead of the local government election scheduled for Saturday.

The thugs reportedly snatched election materials, but a source revealed that the materials have since been recovered from the suspects and returned to Ibadan.

However, OYSIEC Chairman, Isiaka Olagunju, denied that any materials were snatched, confirming only that there was an attack on their officials. He stated that the Divisional Police Officer in Okeho has been directed to arrest the suspects.

According to him, “That is not true. The fact is that there was an attack, there are some hoodlums, who attacked our officials last night at Okeho. No material was snatched.

“In fact, the DPO of Okeho and other security agencies followed our EO back to Ibadan, they just went back to Okeho now. And we have directed the DPO of Okeho to arrest the suspects. That is what happened”.
