An Osun State High Court in Osogbo has dismissed the no-case submission filed by counsels to Dr Rahmon Adedoyin and six others who are being tried over the alleged murder of Timothy Adegoke, a Master’s student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
It was gathered the presiding Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo at the sitting on Wednesday said having reviewed all the evidence before the court, a prima facie case has been established against the defendants.
Consequently, Justice Adepele Ojo who is also the Chief Judge of Osun State called on the Prosecution Counsel to open charges against the defence.
She said, “Evidence before the court states that Timothy lodged in the hotel owned by Adedoyin. Adesola who is the 7th defendant, the receptionist received the lodger.”
The court also held that wife of the deceased spoke to him while in the facility but he could not be reached afterwards.
She called on the defendants to enter their defence.
She, however, made it clear that her ruling did not say that the defendants are guilty or not guilty of the offences which they were charged with.
One of the counsels for the defendants, K. Eleja said in view of the ruling, the defendants would enter their defence but asked for time to prepare.
The case was adjourned till April 25, 2022, for the opening of defence.
