Traffic Management: Woman Assaults OYRTMA Officer in Oluyole, Ibadan



The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency on Wednesday successfully averted a mob action at the Oluyole Estate axis of Ibadan Southwest Local Government Area, where a woman simply known as “Aramide Amoke” reportedly assaulted an OYRTMA Officer who was on active and legitimate duty in the area.

According to eyewitness reports, at about 8:30 am yesterday, Mrs Aramide was caught driving on ‘one-way’ and against traffic and the officer on duty attempted to stop her vehicle to ensure she follows the right lane.

While trying to correct her, Mrs Aramide got down from her vehicle and reportedly slapped the officer repeatedly.

Other motorists, commercial motorcyclists, passersby who witnessed the assault were very displeased at her actions gathered in an attempt to mete out punishment in the form of jungle justice and in the process, burn her car.


At this point, the Executive Chairman was alerted of the situation and he swiftly moved to avert the brewing crisis by first sending a nearby representative who doused the tension, impounded the vehicle and took it alongside the assaulter to the OYRTMA Headquarters pending the time she would be charged to court for assault and deliberate breach of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority Law 2009.



Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi, however, arrived personally at the scene and restored complete normalcy while ensuring aggrieved eyewitnesses that justice would be served in accordance with the extant laws of Oyo State.

He also appreciated them for not taking laws into their hands but waiting for the right authorities to take charge
