UI Acting VC Praises Pharmacy Alumni, says UI Alumni Play Critical Role in University’s Development

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan; Prof. Babatunde Ekanola has stated that the School’s Alumni play a critical part in upholding the first class status of the premier university.

Prof. Ekanola was speaking while receiving the Pharmacy Department pioneer set in his office recently when he stated that projecting the university’s image in a good light to the outside world is a collective effort.

According to him “UI is a big community, consisting of not only staff and students, but also its alumni who occupy a very important position, and we therefore have a collective responsibility to build the University to what we want to make it”

Prof. Ekanola praised the faculty of pharmacy for being one of the first in the university to contribute a $3 million coffee shop to the faculty, noting that the gesture extends to the entire university community. He admitted that the fact that the cast returned to give to their alma mater after 27 years showed that they had pleasant memories of their time at the university.

According to the Acting VC, this initiative serves as a challenge to the rest of the University community to respect and treat students with dignity in the future, so that they will joyfully and readily give back to their Alma mater when they are in a position to do so.

Like Oliver twist, Prof Ekanola stated, the University would appreciate it if its alumni could do more, as there was still so much to do together for the ultimate good of the University.

Prof. Ekanola emphasized the management’s optimism that it can use its wide network of visiting sets and other alumni to help the University and young graduates by facilitating chances for them, recognizing their passion for their alma institution.
