Unidentified Man Runs Over Woman With His Car in Ibadan, Escapes Unarrested

A yet-to-be-identified man has reportedly run over the vice principal of a government-owned secondary school in Ibadan, Mrs Abimbola Adéọlá Uthman on Friday, October 14, around UI/Ọjọo road.

According to the news posted on a WhatsApp platform of some old school members, the young man who was involved in a road fracas with the 48-year-old woman decided to run over her and killed her at the sight of a trailer plying the same road with them.

The unidentified man had hit her car in the rear, and the woman had alighted to assess the damage and protest the hit when the young man threatened her to move out of his way.

According to reports: “The man instead of coming down from his car simply told the woman he would drive over her if she didn’t get out of the way”.

While some reported that the unidentified man killed her instantly after some arguments, another eyewitness said the man had agreed to fix the damage but needed the woman to move out of his way because of a heavy-duty vehicle that was coming.

The man reportedly threatened to drive over her if she refused to move out of the way.

“Thinking it was a mere threat, the woman dared the guy. But to the surprise of everyone there, he ran over the woman with his car, crushing her lower limbs, which later resulted in her death that evening”, the eyewitness narrated.

Meanwhile, the alleged killer, according to reports escaped unhurt and uncaught.

The victim, popularly known as Iya Ibeji who until her sudden death was a wife and mother of four, was buried on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 by her family.
