University of Ibadan Honours Security Officer for Returning missing Staff’s Purse Containing Cash

An Assistant Security Officer in the services of the University of Ibadan, Mr. Amidu Oyekanmi, has received a Letter of Commendation from the University Management for being an Honourable officer and an exemplary ambassador of the Security Unit.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, while presenting the Letter of Commendation to Mr. Oyekanmi, said in a world where negative news stories get more attention, it is exciting and refreshing to celebrate honesty and integrity.

He noted that if all Nigerians, irrespective of religious persuasions, made honesty and integrity their watchwords, the country would be better for it.

Professor Adebowale added that with his singular act, Mr. Oyekanmi had greatly improved the image of the Security Unit in particular and the University in general.

The Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi O. Faluyi, had written in the Commendation Letter that Mr. Oyekanmi’s action deserved a special Commendation as it was a testimony of his good work ethic and professionalism as a Security Officer.

She stated that Mr Oyekanmi’s role in securing the University was worthy of praise, and she encouraged him not to rest on his oars in the uplifting of the University.

Mr. Oyekanmi had, on Tuesday, 07 March 2023, found a purse belonging to another member of staff and returned it intact. The purse contained ATM cards, a driver’s license, and other important documents, as well as some considerable amount of cash.
