Video on Illegal Gold Mining will be Investigated – Oyo Govt

In a bid to quell the tensions and mixed reactions from concerned individuals and stakeholders in the state on the video on illegal mining that made the rounds on social media, the Oyostate government has promised to investigate the issue and keep the stake holders abreast of happenings.

In a statement issued by the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Mineral Development Agency; Hon Abiodun Oni, on Friday, the state government is ready to probe every detail of the video.

According to the statement, Oni assured that the visual recording of the video will be subjected to proper scrutiny to ascertain its legitimacy.

In the Video, residents of a yet to be identified location were seen chasing Hausa-Fulani miners who were accused of disturbing the peace of the area through their illegal mining activities.

Hon. Oni assured citizens that the Governor Seyi Makinde led admin is determined to bring to justice all criminals in the state and making sure the economy of th state is safe and protected from saboteurs alike.

Also, he indicated that the present day government in Oyo state will not tolerate any form of opposition which is hell-bent to extinguish the peace and serenity experienced by residents of the state.
Oni, however, called on anyone with useful information on the alleged illegal mining to come up with verifiable and incontestable information on the activities, he appealed to such persons to call or send text messages to the following cell numbers: 08035792892, 08056406082.
