We will renovate more health-centres, Governor Makinde Assures as he Commissions PHC

Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, says attention is being paid to some health-centers to serve as isolation centers for Covid-19 patients stressing that rehabilitation and Renovation as begun citing the PHCs’ in Igboora and Awe.

In view of this, he reaffirmed his commitment to continue doing his best for the betterment of Oyo state People during the commissioning of ALGON’S Comprehensive Health Centre located behind Grammar school and formal flag-off of community based health insurance scheme, initiative of OYSHIA, today.

While addressing medical practitioners during the commissioning ceremony, the Governor stated that in line with the World Health Organization, Primary Healthcare addresses the health issues of the people.

He emphasized the importance of the Health centres due to the proximity and accessibility of the People to addressing pressing medical issues that might pose danger to their lives and well-being stressing those medical practitioners vast in treatment of illnesses work in the Health centers, hence, the affordability.

Governor Makinde stated that before he assumed office, he was determined to turn around the health sector for the betterment of the state and its inhabitants and made the healthcare one of the four pillars of his manifesto which is the Roadmap to accelerated development in Oyo state from 2019-2023.

He maintained that since assumption into office, his administration has made healthcare development one of their priorities through policy making and actions.

The Governor revealed that there are 721 healthcare centers in Oyo state and that their functionality matters to his Government and that the centers have been equipped with life-convenient machines for utmost performance.

He also stated that his administration is focusing on renovating 351 health-centers in the state for a start and that through Oyo state Health Insurance Agency, (OYSHIA), 20,000 beneficiaries in the Health system with availability of drugs.

He thanked all for prayers offered for him during his contraction of the Covid-19 disease and disclosed efforts made for Healthcare system delivery to the people before the Pandemic began.

The Governor however assured all that the PHCs’ would serve the purposes of their establishments to the people and stated that Oyo state follows the policy of paying counter-part funding 250,000,000 as accelerating tuition results in Nigeria to the World Bank Project.

He explained that the Programme commenced in March 2020 and that 100,000,000 is being paid as State’s Counterpart fund on the basic healthcare equipments and his administration paid 19,000,000 counterpart fund for the integrated medical outreach programme National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of OYSHIA solicited for the support of the residents of the community housing the PHCs for their cooperation and Commitment and also promised to work with the agency to ensure that at least1,000 lives enroll with the scheme within next year.

The Executive Secretary however congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde for achievements recorded since inception of his administration in Oyo state.
