The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday, said it had deployed 2,000 officers ahead of the Yuletide celebrations, advising well-meaning Nigerians to warn their children and wards, to desist from any act that could threaten the peace of the state.
The State Commandant, Adaralewa Michael Akintayo, who disclosed this in Ibadan, said the 2,000 officers were deployed to some strategic locations in the state, to ensure a crime-free celebration.
Adaralewa said the step was meant to put tight security in place before, during and after the Yuletide celebration, in the state.
He charged the officers and men of the corps to be disciplined, patriotic and civil in dealing with the public, as every Nigerian deserves respect devoid of humiliation and intimidation.
The NSCDC boss also implored all the Christian faithful to use the festive season to pray for peace in the country, be benevolent and moderate in celebration.
He also enjoins parents to warn their wards to refrain from throwing fire-crackers, especially during the dry and harmattan season.
