2023: Oyo Arewa Community Endorses Makinde, Lawal Joint Gubernatorial Ticket

Oyo State Arewa community have thrown their weight behind Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s second term bid, for 2023 gubernatorial election.

Earlier on Thursday, members of the Arewa Community led by Alhaji Danladi Jagabal; Alhaji Danjuma Lawal; Sarkin Shasha and Alhaji Tahitu Jubri, stormed the governor’s office in their large numbers to endorse ‘Seyi Makinde/Bayo Lawal 2023 joint ticket. 

The members noted that the necessity of their visit was hinged on the need to appreciate Gov. Makinde’s giant strides, since assumption of office and commemorate with the new deputy governor on his new role.

“We are here to appreciate Gov. Makinde’s efforts and giant strides in Oyo State. We are also happy with your appointment as deputy governor and also running mate to governor ‘Seyi Makinde in the next election.

“We are here to endorse you. We are large in numbers. Makinde’s government has done unprecedented for Hausa community, even beyond past administrations.

“For the first time in history, Hausa community produced Special Assistant in current administration. We also have Supervisory Councillor and SAs in local governments. We are very grateful for this”, they added.

While speaking, Omo Oja Oba prayed for Makinde and his deputy that God will continue to guide him. He added that the government should continue in his gesture towards them and never to spectate them from other hosting tribes.

“We appeal to the governor to keep factorising us in slots or opportunities. We don’t want a segregated Nigeria. We have no where else to call our home”, he stated.

In his remark, the Acting Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal expressed his happiness to see Seriki and the rest of the entourage, to pay him visit.

He said: “I know that seriki is a serious minded person. He doesn’t go out anyhow. I know for him to have come out to this event, it means all Arewa are present here.

“Your representatives are in this government. Our governor doesn’t discriminate because he knows that we are all together. Now, we are moving together with the pace he has created.

“We are glad that you have come here to endorse our governor for second term. This is a tip of the iceberg, by the time we emerge in 2023, we’ll double our efforts”, he assured.

Lawal further said: “By the grace of God, in 2023, you’ll still come back to congratulate His Excellency, ‘Seyi Makinde. For Seriki to have come here, I will also come to pay him visit to celebrate our victory”.

In the meantime, other notable members in attendance include: representative of Oba Shasha, Heads from Egbeda among others.
