3SC Gets N1m for Victory over Bendel Insurance

The Shooting Stars Club of Ibadan has received the sum of one million naira from Oyo State government as reward for victory in their opening match against their perenial opponents, Bendel Insurance Of Benin.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) FC began their race to qualify for the Nigerian Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance of Benin on Tuesday 7th September, 2021.

The match which took place at the famous Cathedral, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in the Coal city of Enugu state, got off to a frenzy start as Bendel Insurance being on the front foot and drawing the first blood with a goal that gave them a lead and left their opponents stunned.

The warriors from Ibadan were shaken for a moment but got back on their feets as the battle was not yet over and this spirit got them an equaliser from one of their talented players, Malomo, moments after they went behind.

The first half ended with the two teams going into the dressing room with a goal apiece and three points to still fight for.

3SC players came into the second half in high spirit and they pressed their opponents while also having some down moments as the insurance players did not come to the field to play.

Nofiu Raheem scored a spectacular goal in the 83rd minute to give 3SC their first lead of the game and a flying start to their NPFL qualification campaign.

Reports from our correspondence shows that the spirit in the team’s camp is high as the government as shown alot of interest in the team and the players are ready to give their all in order to qualify for the NPFL come next season.

The 3SC versus Bendel Insurance game was the first group B game and the second game in the competition as it comes on the back of a 1-1 draw between Gombe United and El- Kanemi Warriors.
