Four Dead, Six Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Auto Crash

An accident involving a Mazda bus and a truck at Iperu bridge, Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway has led to the death of four persons, while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Confirming the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Ahmed Umar, FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun State, stated that the accident occurred at about 6:25am and was caused by excessive speed and light sign violation.

“The accident occurred this morning at about 6:25am involving a Mazda bus with registration numbers YYY 412 XB and an unregistered truck.

“The Mazda bus driver who was on high speed crashed into the moving truck from behind due to light defect on the truck . The truck rear lights made to signal vehicles from behind was not functioning,” he said.

Umar added that 10 people were involved in the accident which comprised of four men, five women and one male child.

He went further to explain that six persons which comprised of five women and a man were injured while four persons comprising two men, one woman and a male child died in the accident.

The FRSC boss explained that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention while the deceased were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara.

He then used the opportunity to again advise motorists to fix everything necessary in their vehicles before embarking on any trip, while also cautioning them on speed violation .
