The Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde through the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), has commenced the distribution of food commodities worth approximately ₦100 million to civil and public servants across the state at highly subsidized rates.

The initiative forms part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to cushion the effect of current economic challenges on workers and ensure a more comfortable festive season.

Flagging off the distribution exercise at the corporation’s premises, the Chairman of ACCOS, Sheik Taofik Akeugbagold, stated that the programme is strictly for workers who have indicated interest. He noted that beneficiaries must be properly documented by their respective accounts sections to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

Speaking through ACCOS’s Coordinating Director, Mr. Oladejo, the Chairman explained that the available commodities include bags of rice, vegetable oil, chicken, and other essential food items. Allocations will be made strictly based on individual demand as indicated by the workers.

He added that payment for the goods would be facilitated through salary deductions beginning in February 2026. This arrangement, he stressed, was designed to ease the immediate financial burden on workers while ensuring accountability.

Akeugbagold emphasized that the intervention aligns with the welfare-driven agenda of Governor Makinde’s administration, aimed at improving workers’ standard of living and promoting food affordability.

He further assured that the distribution process would be transparent, orderly, and fair, urging all beneficiaries to comply with the stipulated guidelines.
