Oorelope LG Chairman Debunks Rumours of Kidnapped Victims’ Release in Igboho

The Leadership of Oorelope Local Government Area has officially refuted widespread social media reports claiming that victims of the recent kidnapping incident in the area have regained their freedom.


In a statement issued on Sunday by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Jacob Oluwale Ogundiran, the local government described the circulating reports as “false and misleading.”


The Council clarified that, contrary to the misinformation, the victims remain in captivity, and official rescue operations are still ongoing.

“The kidnapped victims are yet to regain their freedom,” the statement read. “We urge members of the public to disregard any information suggesting otherwise unless it emanates from official and credible sources.”


The Chairman further noted that security agencies at both the state and local levels are working in close collaboration to secure the victims’ safe return. He emphasized that the government is deploying all necessary resources to ensure a successful resolution to the situation.

The council promised that no effort would be spared until the victims are safely rescued and reunited with their families.
