Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will present the state’s 2027 Appropriation Bill to the House of Assembly on Tuesday, November 10, in what will be the final budget proposal of his administration.
Makinde communicated the proposed date in a letter to the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, which was read to lawmakers during plenary.
In the letter, the governor said the presentation was in line with Section 121(1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, which requires state governors to submit annual appropriation bills to their respective legislatures.
He described the proposed budget as significant, noting that it would be the final annual budget of his administration and an opportunity to consolidate its achievements.
According to Makinde, the 2027 fiscal plan would provide a platform to sustain the developmental progress recorded by his government and reinforce its legacy.
The governor requested the Assembly’s approval to address the lawmakers on November 10 at 11:00 a.m., expressing his readiness to formally present the proposal.
The presentation will pave the way for legislative scrutiny of the proposed expenditure, including the administration’s planned capital projects, recurrent spending and other priorities for the 2027 fiscal year.
Makinde, who assumed office in 2019 and began his second term in 2023, is expected to leave office in 2027 at the end of his constitutionally permitted two terms.
