‘Ajimobi Not Qualified To Serve As APC Acting Chair’ — Akinleye

Mr. Michael Akinleye, an aspirant to the post of the Deputy National Chairman in the All Progressive Congress has said that Senator Abiola Ajimobi is not qualified to serve as the Acting National Chairman of the party.

Akinleye made this statement in his letter to the National Working Committee of the APC on Wednesday signed by Barrister Babatunde Oke for his legal representatives, Octadas Attorneys.

According to him, Ajimobi is not yet recognized as the Deputy National Chairman of the party whereas he, Akinleye Michael has already filed a suit against his nomination.

He emphasized that after informing the court about the purported announcement of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the Deputy National Chairman (South) on the 23rd of March, Chief Anthony Adeniyi, Ajimobi’s lawyer, “vehemently denied the said appointment of his client”. He stressed that the court warned that the party should desist from changing the status quo as at the time the suit was instituted.

He stated that “since Ajimobi is not the recognised substantive Deputy National Chairman (South) as confirmed by his counsel during the court proceedings of the 23rd of March 2020 and he is not qualified to assume the position of the Acting National Chairman of APC”.

He obliged the National Working Committee of the party to obey the sanctions of the court and stop disregarding the court by continuing to recognize Ajimobi anything other than an ” ordinary member of the party”.

He begged everyone to permit the law to prevail in the overall interest of all.
