Persons Living With Disability Storm Oyo Secretariat Over Alleged Corruption in TESCOM Recruitment

The Oyo State government secretariat is currently been bombarded by persons living with disabilities, as they protest against alleged shortchange in the recruitment of the teaching and non-teaching staff by the State’s Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

The protest which kick-started at about 8:00 AM this morning caused a heavy gridlock along the routes that led to the state’s government secretariat.

Cross-section of protesters who spoke with Oyo Affairs correspondent explained that governor Seyi Makinde led administration promised them 5% of the total TESCOM recruitment but the reverse is the case when the results of the recruitment exercise were released as 149 persons living with disability make the list instead of 350.

They also stressed that non-disabled persons were amongst the list of the 149 shortlisted persons living with disability by TESCOM.

While reacting to the various allegations leveled against the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olabisi Oderinde, disclosed that the government is fair to the persons living with a disability with the recruitment exercise, noting that the grey areas causing misunderstanding will be sorted out.

She, however, summoned an immediate meeting between the leaders of persons living with disability in Oyo state and top officials of the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

As at the time of filing this report, Oyo State Post Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has released the list of successful candidates for teaching recruitment exercise Batch ‘B’

Earlier last month, the commission had released names of successful candidates, and tagged it Batch “A”.
