NUC Approves Forensic Science, 13 others for Technical University, Ibadan


The National University Commission (NUC) has approved the running of forensic science and 13 other environmental/engineering courses at the First Technical University (Tech-U), Ibadan, Oyo State.

Reports gathered revealed that the approval was contained in a letter from the NUC dated February 10, 2021, and was based on a recent verification exercise the commission conducted at the university.

It would be noted that the approval makes Tech-U becomes the first institution to offer forensic science in Nigeria after the Nigerian Police Academy.

According to a statement issued by the institution Public Relations Officer (PRO), Akeem Lasisi, the other 13 newly-approved courses include computer engineering, civil engineering, industrial and production engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, science laboratory technology (SLT) and quantity surveying.

Others are survey and geo-informatics, urban and regional planning, architecture, biotechnology, estate management and building.

While reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ayobami Salami, thanked the NUC team led by its Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Rasheed, for the confidence it has continued to have in Tech-U.

The former OAU deputy VC however assured all and sundry of a resilient commitment of the University to continue to provide a solid education in an environment of best global practices.
