The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede has called on more collaborators and partners in developing the sports sector of the state, adding that there are more opportunities to tap into as the government alone cannot develop the state.
He stated this yesterday while attending the commissioning of the Afijio Sports Centre initiated by Hon. Seyi Adisa.
Fakorede said, “In the true spirit of leadership, it is important to give credence to an initiator of a brilliant project, such as the Afijio Sports Centre”.
He added that there is a place of brotherhood before political affiliation, which he learnt so well from his principal, Governor Seyi Makinde.
Fakorede reiterated that the state government is committed to good governance and collaboration with other stakeholders in Oyo state, hence, the reason he was present at the commissioning.
Earlier, Hon. Adisa had explained why he hosted the commissioner for youth and sports, despite their different political affiliations, saying to develop the state for the good of the people, politics must be put aside.
Also, the wife of the former governor of Oyo state, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi has urged politicians to take a cue from younger politicians, shun partisanship and come together to develop their immediate communities.
She stated this on Sunday while commending Hon. Adisa for the projects he commissioned in his constituency despite his political affiliation to the All Progressives Congress, and for hosting all sports stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party governed state, saying that, “This added glamour to the successful commissioning of the Afijio Sports Centre”.
