AITEO CUP: Oyo North PDP Senatorial Candidate, Wolekanle Donates N200,000 to Support Saki United

Sequel to the appeal of Saki United Football Club for financial assistance in the ongoing Aiteo Cup, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate in Oyo North Senatorial District, Hon. Akinwale Solomon Akinwole donated a sum of N200.000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) to the soccer players.

Wolekanle who is the Chairman of Ogbomoso United Football Club said he read about the challenges being faced by the club on social media, and he decided to reach out to them so as to enable them continue in their game.

“As a club owner, I know how paucity of funds can dampen the morale of a flourishing team and I believe with support from people the feat is achievable.

“Saki United is our pride just like Ogbomoso United and other private clubs. We must do everything possible to ensure that the clubs do not go into extinction”, he stated.

Akinwale who pledged continuous support for the team urged Nigerians to encourage talented young Nigerians to develop their soccer skills, so they can grow and become pride tomorrow.

Recall Oyoaffairs had on Wednesday reported that the management of Saki United Football club is seeking assistance from Governor ‘Seyi Makinde led-administration and other corporate bodies to boost its morale, in order to honour its next match slated for Sokoto State against Katsina United.

Saki united had on Tuesday afternoon defeated Sokoto professionals with two goals to nil, in Minna, Niger State.

In the meantime, the football club disclosed that it worked hard despite not receiving any assistance from government quarters to prosecute its match against Sokoto probably because of bureaucratic bottle-neck.
