Alleged N900m Fraud: ICPC to Arraign ex-JAMB Registrar, Ojerinde on July 6

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced that Professor Dibu Ojerinde, former Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Registrar, will be arraigned at the Federal High Court, Abuja for the N900 million fraud he is alleged to have committed.

The date was fixed on Monday by Justice Obiora Egwuatu after ICPC counsel, Ebenezer Shogunle disagreed with the terms of the plea bargain the accused’s lawyer, P.A.O. Olorunnisola had planned to file before the court.

ICPC operatives had apprehended Professor Ojerinde on March 15 in Abuja on misappropriation of funds charges and accused him of committing several frauds while he headed JAMB and the National Examinations Council (NECO).

The case has already been filed before the court with suit number: CR/97/21 with Ojerinde as the sole defendant.

After the ICPC counsel disagreed with the terms of the plea bargain put down by defense counsel, Justice Egwuatu ruled that since the prosecution was not in agreement with the terms put forward by the defense, written correspondence should be filed to the effect.

The judge then adjourned the case till July 6 for arraignment.
