Otu town in Oyo State
In the early hours of Saturday, unidentified gunmen stormed Otu town in Oyo State, kidnapping at least two individuals and injuring another. Otu is located in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of the state.
The victims of the abduction were identified as Mr. Dayo Olayanju and the wife of Mr. Kehinde Obasola. According to reports, Mr. Obasola managed to escape despite sustaining gunshot wounds, but his wife was taken captive by the armed assailants. As of the time of this report, the whereabouts of the kidnapped victims remain unknown.
A local community leader, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident, stating, “It is true. It happened around 2 am today. They were kidnapped in different areas. One was kidnapped along Okeho road. I have confirmed it. The two people kidnapped are Dayo Olayanju and the wife of Kehinde Obasola. Kehinde Obasola escaped with gunshots but his wife was kidnapped.”
Efforts to obtain a response from the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful as calls to his telephone went unanswered. Similarly, attempts to reach the state Commandant of Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) were also unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
