Engr. Muftau Open Salawu FNSE has provided guidance on how to prevent a situation similar to the tragic death of hip-hop artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. Mohbad passed away at the age of 27, reportedly due to depression, bullying, and stalking.
Open Salawu, who is also the Waziri Jari of Nupe Kingdom, expressed his concern that there are many individuals facing similar situations in various fields such as music, politics, academics, business, and family. He emphasized that society often fails to take these victims seriously until it is too late.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Giwa Adinni of Oyo state advised young people experiencing envy, jealousy, or hatred within their circles to avoid turning to drugs or substances for temporary relief. Instead, he outlined several steps they can take to protect themselves.
Firstly, he encouraged individuals to step aside and move on from toxic environments. Secondly, he emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with good people, fresh ideas, and learning new productive skills. Engaging in sporting activities was highlighted as a way to improve physical and mental health. Open Salawu also stressed the benefits of reading books, which can broaden one’s horizons and enhance communication skills.
Additionally, he recommended seeking support from one’s spouse, parents, and particularly one’s mother. While acknowledging that emotions can cloud judgment, he noted that fathers can provide valuable guidance with little or no bias. Finally, Open Salawu urged individuals to approach life with a godly mindset rather than a religious one, emphasizing the importance of respecting others’ feelings and showing kindness and compassion.
In conclusion, Open Salawu called on everyone to be vigilant in their surroundings and take steps to protect those who may be facing similar challenges.
