Information reaching OyoAffairs right now has confirmed that the The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved a two billion naira loan request for Anchor Borrowers’ Programme.
This approval is coming on the heels of a letter sent to the State House of Assembly by Governor Seyi Makinde which was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin.
According to the letter the two billion naira loan will be collected from Fidelity Bank under the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP), an initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the Agricultural sector.
The loan will be targeted at small scale farmers to engaged in the production of food commodities such as Maize, Rice and other food crops.
Commenting on the loan, the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi said the Anchor Borrowers Programme will increase the productivity of small scale farmer in the state and enhance food security.
