Coronavirus: Makinde Inspects Newly Donated Power-Bikes to OYRTMA for Enforcement Operations

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde yesterday, inspected brand new power-bikes donated to the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) by a Corporate Organization as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

OYRTMA took delivery of the brand new operational and surveillance power-bikes which was donated in support of the robust works and operations embarked upon by the Authority to forestall the rapid spread of the deadly Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) and ensuring free flow of human and vehicular traffic across the thirty-three local government Areas of the State.

Receiving the Power-bikes on behalf of the Authority, the Executive Chairman, Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi expressed great appreciation to the donor and reiterated the commitment of the Authority to vigorously pursue a holistic surveillance and enforcement of the operation-one-passenger aimed at curbing the spread of the deadly and dreaded COVID-19.

In his words, Dr. Fagbemi said, “while I on behalf of the Government and People of Oyo State thank you for this great gesture, may I reiterate that these operational power-bikes would be dedicated to robust surveillance and strict monitoring of compliance to the State Government’s directives and guidelines for public transportation across the state particularly at this trying times.

The bikes would further boost the commitment of the Authority to doing more to safeguard the State by ensuring seamless traffic conditions and strictly monitor compliance to the operation-one-passenger policy as well as other itemized guidelines which includes but not limited to transport operators/companies sanitizing their parks and garages regularly and provision of washing hand equipment with soap and running water, loading of commercial vehicles to 60% capacity as against 100% or more etc”. He added that strict adherence to the laid down guidelines in the public transportation system of the State would help curtail drastically, the rapid spread of the disease.
