Coronavirus: Oyo APC Reconciliation Team Disobeys Govt’s Order

… Plans To Meet Despite Coronavirus Threat

Amidst threat of the viral disease, coronavirus, that has killed thousands across the globe, the All Progressives Congress, APC, reconciliation team in Oyo State will hold its maiden meeting this afternoon inside former governor Abiola Ajimobi’s 6 Yemoja Avenue, off Alaafin Street, Oluyole Estate.

The party had been engulfed in crisis, leading to factionalisation of the party owing to what people term highhandedness on the part of the former governor. The party’s performance in the 2019 elections was badly affected that it lost its bid to retain the state after 8 years of Ajimobi as governor.

The meeting came after the chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke, declared that the party has suspended all political activities as part of efforts to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus in the state.

This about-to-be-held Meeting is a disregard for the executive order of the government of Oyo State which states that there must not be a public gathering of more than 30 people respectively to prevent the spread of a virus that has killed thousands globally and infected more than 40 people in Nigeria.

Though many aggrieved members of the party have criticized the composition of the membership of the committee, it is not sure as at press whether or not Alao-Akala has agreed to chair the committee.

But rather than allow Alao-Akala to fix the meeting, Ajimobi, in a statement personally sent to members of the committee yesterday afternoon reads “I am glad to inform you of your nomination as a member of the All Progressives Congress, Oyo State Reconciliation Committee, 2020.”
