Court Documents Reveal Names Involved in Aresa-Adu Case Delay

New court documents have shed light on the recent adjournment of the Aresa-Adu case, revealing the names of individuals allegedly involved in masterminding the introduction of a new motion that has prolonged the case. According to the documents, Prince (Dr) Fenwa Popoola, Prince Timothy Tunwagun, Prince Kola Oladipo, and Prince Oladele Olaleye, all members of the Emiolu Ruling House, are said to have played a role in delaying the case.

The four individuals filed a new motion claiming to represent the interest of the Emiolu family, despite the family already having a team of lawyers led by former Attorney General of Oyo State, Chief Barrister Micheal Lana. This team has been representing the Emiolu family since August 2024 and has secured favorable rulings in their favor.

The Mogaji of Emiolu Ruling House, Pa Julius Olanipekun, expressed disappointment and shock at the actions of the four individuals. “We are shocked that some of sons who are well known in this family would take such actions, especially at this final stages of the case,” he said. “Whoever advised them to do this intends to destroy our chances. We elderly people and even our Kingmakers have been painstakingly contributing transport money and risking our lives traveling to each court sitting in Ibadan. Only for this is a betrayal from within.”

Pa Olanipekun added that the family is determined to see the case through to its conclusion and produce an Aresa-Adu. “We will not let the actions of a few individuals undermine our efforts. We are confident in our case and are hopeful that justice will be served,” he said.

One of the family members, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed frustration at the actions of the four individuals. “Our team of Lawyers headed by former Oyo Attorney General have assured us of victory. When it is now close to getting a final hearing & judgement, these people now decided to bring in a new Lawyer and a new motion. God has exposed their sponsors and we will expose the person soon if they don’t stop,” he said.

The team of lawyers representing the Emiolu Ruling House led by Oyo State former Attorney General, Chief Barrister Micheal Lana, one of the team lawyers described the actions of the four individuals as a deliberate internal sabotage. “Based on the widespread of publications of this case from August 2024, any of these four individuals who claims not to be aware of this case are either not truly members of the Emiolu family or they have deliberately come to sabotage this case to work against the interest of their own family,” one of the lawyers said.

Another family elder, Chief Adeyemi Oladapo, called for unity within the family. “These four individuals have never followed us to the court in Ibadan since inception of this case in 2024. Both Oshunbiyi & Emiolu Royal families, some people are evidently playing us against each other. God is finally exposing them,” he said.

The development has sparked tension within the Emiolu family, with members of Emiolu family calling for the individuals to withdraw their motion and discontinue the lawyer. The family is determined to see the case through and produce an Aresa-Adu, a position that has been vacant for eight(8) years.

Having gotten a favourable ruling on April 30th, the Emiolu have expressed confidence in their current team of Lawyers, and is hopeful that justice will be served soon. Which is why the family are asking the question why these four individuals are choosing to delay the case right now at the final stages.

As the case continues, the Emiolu family is urging all members to remain united and focused on the ultimate goal of producing an Aresa-Adu. “We will expose the sponsor behind this sabotat, and ensure that our family’s interests are protected. I am an elderly person and people I take as my children are not meant to partake in this kind of act without letting us as their fathers first. Our own children caught us of guard in the court room. But I am asking all members of the family to stay resolute that we will be victorious,” Pa Olanipekun said.
