Crisis is looming in the Oyo State chapter of the Accord Party as leading aspirants, Hon. Busari Olakunle Moruf, popularly known as “Goodugoodu,” and media entrepreneur Oriyomi Hamzat, have both claimed victory in the party’s governorship primary election.
Goodugoodu claimed to have emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in a primary election monitored by the Accord National Secretary, Mrs. Adebukola Ajaja, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Engr. Keshinro Olugbenga, Prince Adewale Adeyemo, Mr. Olaide Mobolade, and other stakeholders.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer of the State Collation Committee for the primary election, Hon. Dairo Olayinka, disclosed that Busari secured 29,427 votes to clinch the party’s ticket, defeating two other aspirants in the contest.
According to the results announced, Oriyomi Hamzat garnered 18,716 votes, while Fatai Owoseni polled 11,922 votes.
In a separate development, Agidigbo FM boss Oriyomi Hamzat was also declared winner of another primary election, with a certificate of return presented to him in a now-viral video circulating across social media platforms.
The emergence of two different results and candidates signals a looming crisis within the party.
Recall that some party executives had earlier alleged that Hamzat sponsored thugs to disrupt the party’s assembly primaries, while other party members dismissed the claim.
