PDP GUBER PRIMARIES: Vote Makinde, Young Appointees Urges Delegates

A support group, Young Appointees for Seyi’s Re-election, YASR, on Tuesday, charged all constituted delegates of the People’s Democratic Party across all the 33 local government areas to vote for Engr. Seyi Makinde to represent the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

According to the National Working Committee of the party, the gubernatorial Congress to elect the governorship candidate of the party would hold today.

Deji Ola, the Personal Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, while speaking on behalf of the group, following a strategic roundtable meeting held at the secretariat, noted that the power of the delegates cannot be overemphasized and determines the candidate of the party.

In his words: “We are fully aware that power of the delegates, as a people, can never be overemphasized as it determines who becomes the standard flag bearer of a party.

“We want to urge our delegates to give their votes to Governor Makinde, and I will tell you why. Our governor is the man of the moment and who has also been serving the state. He has, over the years, shown determination in his exploits and his experience.

“So, we are pleading with them to, once again, support a man whose major priority is delivery of good governance as they engage in the voting exercise slated for tomorrow.”

Deji added that the good people of Oyo state are always ready to give their unprecedented support for the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde, saying that the reasons are unconnected with the rate of accelerated development they are currently witnessing in the nooks and cranny of the state.

YASR had, earlier this month, promised to mobilise 30,000 voters for the re-election of its principal, Governor Makinde, a move which, according to the group, is ongoing.

In his brief remark, Mr Olojede Victor, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, who also spoke on the development, maintained that the governor deserves reelection in the state.

“All delegates should support the re-election bid of Governor Seyi Makinde because, in less than three years, he had achieved major milestones.

“We are all aware that the youths have been recognized and have a proper place in the activities of this government and we have been doing well. Now, it is time for us to give back to the governor by mobilising support for him, which we are always ready to do,” Olojede stated.
