Business activities were on Monday grounded in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital as hundreds of #EndSARS protesters blocked all major business corridors in the state, demanding the unconditional release of all detained protesters, punishment for erring officers as well as compensation for families of victims of police brutality in the country.

Oyo Affairs correspondent, who monitored situations in Ibadan metropolis, reports that the aggrieved youths blocked major exit roads in the state capital, including Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Ogbomoso-Ilorin highway, leaving hundreds of motorists traveling outside the state stranded.

Our correspondent also reports that the protesters barricaded major streets within the metropolis such as Apata, Odo Ona, One-10, Iworoad, Tollgate, Mobil, Akala Expressway, Lam Adesina Expressway, Orita Challenge, Iyaganku, Aleshinloye, Sango, Dugbe, Bashorun, Idi-Ape, Agbowo, Eleyele-Ologuneru road, among other strategic roads.

A development that led to heavy traffic within the city of Ibadan as all routes to the town were blocked by the angry youths.

In a chat with Oyo Affairs, the protesters armed with placards with various inscriptions, demanded the unconditional release of all detained protesters and issued a caution on the alleged plan by the federal government to stop their protests with the means of force by a formation of the Nigerian army codename, Operation Crocodile Smiles.

While reacting to the marathon protest staged by the youths in Oyo state, the state police command’s public relations officers, SP Fadeyi Olugbenga, said the police will not disturb the peaceful protesters but caution them to be civil in their agitation and stop blocking roads and other unruly behavior that violate other Nigerians rights, especially right to freedom of movement.

As at the time of filing this report, the protesters have completely taken over all roads that lead to the Oyo state government secretariat and thereby preventing movements, a development that made many government workers trekked to their offices and back to their various destinations.
