Eruwa Poly Matriculates Over 3,000 Students, Charges Fresh Students to Shun Cultism, Hooliganism

The Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa has on Friday matriculated over three thousand students into different accredited departments of the institution for 2022/2023 academic session.

While addressing matriculants, the Acting Rector, Dr Gbade Akinteye advised fresh students to shun deviant behaviours and embrace conduct that reflect the ideals of responsible students and members of the society.

The statement read: “All grace and adoration unto God Almighty for the opportunity to stand before this congregation in line with the institutional policy provision to matriculate fresh students for the 2022/2023 academic session, which marks the official entry of new students into this institution of learning. I can assure you parents and guardians that your children are in the right place.

“Being the major reason for this gathering as matriculants, it means that you have fulfilled all necessary admission requirements as contained in the polytechnic handbook. On this note, accept my heartfelt congratulations. The institution is known for admitting deserving and qualified students, and it has, at the moment, had all its programmes fully accredited.

“For the 2021/2022 academic session, a total number of 2,673 (1,600 for ND programmes; 386 for ND-DPT; and 687 for HND) were admitted into the institution.

“However, for the 2022/2023 session, we are matriculating a total number of 3,380 students (2,004 for ND, 562 for ND-DPT, and 858 for HND). These statistics imply a 26 percent increase when compared to the previous session, making it yet another remarkable progress in the history of the institution.

“It may interest you to know that you are the second set of students that I am admitting into the membership of this institution in my capacity as the Acting Rector of this institution. It is my vision to put this institution on the global map by the end of my tenure. I am glad that you have come at the right time. I, therefore, challenge you to key into my vision by putting in the necessary efforts to become outstanding in your academic endeavours.

“I need to remind you that your journey toward the convocation ceremony is already in motion, and it is important that you do everything required of you to justify your selection out of the numerous students that sought admission into this great citadel of learning. Be sure to complete all necessary registrations, attend lectures promptly, complete all assignments and final project, participate in continuous assessments, field works, and co-curricular activities, among others.

“At Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, we frown at any form of misconduct and won’t hesitate to sanction erring students. Therefore, we implore you to shun deviant behaviours and vices such as cultism, hooliganism, corruption, among others and embrace behaviours and conduct that reflect the ideals of responsible students and members of the society. I need to further advise you to be modest and decent in your dressing as well as approaches to issues.

“My dear matriculating students, I want to assure you that your security on campus is guaranteed. We, however, plead with you to report any suspicious activities to the school authorities for immediate action. In addition, your host community is full of loving people, and the town is known to exude peace. Your part is to abide by its rules and regulations, which you will learn with time,” he added.

While rounding off his speech, the Ag. Rector appreciated the Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, for his unalloyed support and generosity towards Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, while also congratulating him on his reelection.

He also congratulated Makinde on his re-election victory, and appreciated the active Governing Council led by Prof. Abiodun Ojo.

“On our part, we have keyed into the economic policies of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde. His Excellency has never ceased to extend his hand of generosity to the institution. We say thank you for your continuous input into the institution.

“On behalf of the Governing Council and Management, I once again congratulate all the matriculating students and wish you a fruitful stay at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. I pray that in the end, you will all be a source of pride to your respective families, states, nation and humanity,” Akinteye concluded.

Meanwhile, the matriculation ceremony had in attendance the Ag. Rector, Dr Gbade Akinteye; Deputy Rector, Mr Oladeji A.O; Ag. Registrar, Mr Oladele Oladipo, Ag. Bursar, Mr Segun Oladiipo; Head or works and services, Mr Abeegunde O.O; Deans of Faculties; Directors of the institution’s Directorates; Head of Departments; Students Union leaders; members of staff; parents and guardians of the matriculants.
