Ex-3SC Boss, Gbolagade Busari, dies at 61

The immediate past chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Honourable Gbolagade Busari, gave up the ghost at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Busari who died at the age of 61 was a sports journalist with the defunct Sketch Newspaper.

He rose to the position of Chief Editor before relocating to the United States from where he returned to serve as a special adviser to the immediate past governor of Oyo State, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Busari was later appointed by the late ex-Governor as 3SC Chairman in January 2017.

His remains were interred on Monday at Orogun area, Ibadan according to Islamic rites.

The interment of the former sports journalist turned administrator was witnessed by friends, associates as well as the Oluyole Warriors who were well represented at the event by their officials and players including the club’s Team Manager, Dimeji Lawal, the Chief Coach, Edith Ogoye, among others.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has commiserated with the management of 3SC over the unfortunate incident.

In a condolence message signed by Oyo SWAN Chairman, Niyi Alebiosu, and it’s secretary, Adewale Tijani, the body described the death of “Busso”, as the deceased was fondly known by close associates, as a monumental loss to not only 3SC but also to sports fraternity, journalism profession and the political class.

“The death of Busso is shocking. We will miss him because of his statesmanship,” Oyo SWAN said in the release.
