A former deputy governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, may emerge as the new chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
A source revealed on Monday that Adeyemo is likely to emerge at the party’s state congress scheduled to hold on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
“His Excellency, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, is likely to emerge as the new chairman of Oyo APC,” the source said.
Recall that stakeholders in the party had earlier agreed on a zoning arrangement ahead of the congress.
According to a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the decision followed consultations among key leaders of the party across the 33 local government areas of the state.
He disclosed that an ad hoc zoning committee was constituted to allocate positions in the State Executive Committee among the local government chapters.
The committee is chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, with Mr. Afeez Bolaji Repete serving as secretary. Other members are Idris Adeoye, Adesoji Adedeji, Ajiboye Sangogade and Akeem Olatunji.
Adeyemo, who hails from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area, served as deputy governor under the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, from 2011 to 2019.
His possible emergence as state chairman is seen by party faithful as a move to reposition the APC ahead of future political contests in the state.
