Sequel to the double nominations for the position of Jagun of Ibadan land and the apology for error by the Office of the Olubadan, a group identified as Ibadan Development Frontiers, has warned Senator Kola Balogun, the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, not to intervene in the Ibadan Chieftaincy Process pointing fingers at him for being the brain behind the error.
They warned him against his selfish ambition and urged the senator to face his lawmaking business while allowing the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Dr. Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Alli Okunmade II to install whoever he deemed fit and qualified for the vacant position.
Ibadan Development Frontiers made this known on Wednesday, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Salami Jimoh, and secretary, Mr Kemi Olatunbosun, which was made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The group particularly fingered Senator Kola Balogun in the double nominations of Chief Dotun Sanusi and Mogaji Remi Babalola as Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland.
They said it doesn’t speak well for Olubadan palace to issue two letters for two different individuals for a same position.
The group also condemned the senator for dragging the revered Olubadan institution into politics for his selfish reason of getting ticket for his reelection.
“We have read and seen with disappointment two letters coming from the Olubadan palace to Chief Dotun Sanusi and Mogaji Remi Babalola over the installation of Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland. This doesn’t speak well of a revered Olubadan institution.
“We have heard of role being played by the Senator Representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Kola Balogun in the process. We want to urge him to stay clear of Ibadan Chieftaincy matters and face his lawmaking business.
“Senator Kola Balogun should allow Kabiyesi, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Dr Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Alli Okunmade II and the Olubadan in council to install whoever they deemed fit and qualified to fill the vacant position.
“Senator Kola Balogun who has earlier dragged the Olubadan institution into politics because of his selfish ambition should know that Olubadan is the monarch and not him”, the statement partly reads.
