FG Dissolves UI Governing Council, Appoints Odigie as New Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate dissolution and reconstitution of the University of Ibadan governing council.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono, it was announced that President Buhari has appointed the pioneer Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun representing the South-South

Echono further said that all affected governing councils shall be inaugurated by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Nigerian Universities Commission Auditorium at No. 26, , Aguiyi-Ironsi Street, Maitama District, Abuja at 11:00 a.m. with the Vice-Chancellors of the affected institutions expected to be in attendance.

Other members of the new council were also listed namely: Alhaji Abubakar Maikafi; North East, Hon. Emeka Nwagbo, member South East, Comrade Abba Yaro, North Central and Dr Masud Kazaure, member North West
