How we utilize e-governance to Block Financial loopholes – Seyi Makinde

Oyo state Governor; Engr. Seyi Makinde has shared how his administration is employing e-governance to bring about the dividends of democracy to residents and citizens of Oyo state.

Engr. Makinde said this in Abuja during the 50th Annual Accountants Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN’s), on the theme: ‘Achieving Sustainable Leadership Through e-government in the 4th Industrial Revolution.”

Governor Makinde hinted that the introduction of e-governance to the running of government in the state has contributed immensely to the ongoing massive development and transformation in the state.

The governor of the pace setter state hinted that the use of e-governance in his administration has helped the state block financial loopholes which had in time past hindered the growth of the state’s economy. Similarly, the prompt payment of salaries and pensions was another benefit of e-government.

As stated in a press statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, the governor said that for Nigeria to experience sustainable development and be able to compete favorably in global economy, it needs a lively and focused leadership which will be able to harness Nigeria’s potential to “pick up and catch up with the rest of the world.”

Makinde also made it known that his introduction and use of the e-governance plan was informed by the limited resources available for the state’s developmental purposes which were siphoned into the personal coffers of unscrupulous individuals before his administration.
