Fire guts warden, secretary’s offices in UI female hostel

A fire outbreak has razed a section of Queen Elizabeth Hall, one of the students’ hostels at the University of Ibadan.

The hostel is occupied by only female undergraduates in the institution.

Queen Elizabeth Hall is the first female hall of residence in the institution.

It was learnt that the fire incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

It was gathered that the main cause of the fire incident had not been revealed as of the time of filing this report on Thursday.

Firefighters from the University Fire Service were immediately drafted to the scene of the incident to prevent further damages.

Director of Public Relations in the institution, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the development to newsmen on Thursday.

Akinpelu, while speaking in a telephone conversation with our correspondent, said that the office of the Hall Warden and the secretary were affected.

“Yes, it is true. The office of the Warden and the office of the Secretary of the Warden were affected.”
