Folajimi Emerges as PDP Flagbearer for Ibadan North Bye-Election

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has endorsed his Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) consensus candidate for the Ibadan North federal constituency bye-election.

Oyekunle’s selection followed extensive deliberations among party leaders, ensuring a unified front ahead of the August 16, 2025 poll. Other PDP aspirants; Hon. Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, Olanrewaju Sarumi, Hon. Waheed Adeniyi Akanbi (Biiro), and Taiwo Salami, were reportedly placated with key government appointments to foster party cohesion.

Under the new arrangement, Bibire will succeed Oyekunle as Deputy Chief of Staff, while Salami takes the helm as Chairman of the Oyo State Sports Council. Akanbi (Biiro) is slated to lead the Oyo State Waste Management Authority, with official announcements expected imminently.
