Honourable Tayo Sarumi, a former member of the House of Representatives in Oyo State, has been reported dead.
The former lawmaker, who died on Friday evening at the age of 75, represented Ibadan North Federal Constituency between 2003 and 2007.
Sarumi, who was the father of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Lanre Sarumi; had retired to business, among which was the management with a hotel in the Kongi area of Bodija, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In the meantime, in a statement made available to TODAY SPLASH, the Honourable Member Representing Ibadan North Constituency II, Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel has expressed shock over the death of the former federal lawmaker, who he described as a rallying point for all in Ibadan.
“The news of our revered father, late Hon. Tayo Sarumi came to us as a rude shock, Baba has served Ibadan North and Nigeria meticulously, he was known for speaking truth to power and standing by the masses.
“Baba’s passion for development and growth of his people was next to none, he raised the bar for representation during his days, until his death his achievements is still on the lips of everyone.
“Hon. Tayo Sarumi was a grassroot mobiliser, a true definition of Democrat whose watchword was equity and justice, one whose vision is to bring the good out of everyone around him, you’ve been a great mentor to us, we will uphold your legacy and ensure Ibadan remains best amongst it’s equal”, Hon. Adebayo Babajide stated.
