Oyo State Executive council has approved a law to provide a legal framework for the recommendations of the state task force on COVID-19.
The regulation tagged: Oyo state Coronavirus Disease Emergency Regulation 2020 would give legal backings to ban social gatherings and enforcement of social distancing to guide against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
The state Commissioner for Justice, Professor Oyelowo disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the end of state executive council meeting held this Tuesday, through a social media platform and chaired by the executive Governor of the state, engineer Seyi Makinde.
Professor Oyewo said the law which revolved around extant law would prevent security operatives not to infringe on fundamental human rights of individuals and punish offenders.
In his remark, the state Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, hinted that the Oyo state government has intensified efforts to establish Energy center of Excellence to boost the social and economic development of the state in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
He explained that the proposed Energy center of Excellence would provide much-needed electricity through various dams with a view to boosting the economy of the state.
