Governor Makinde Assumes Duty as Oyo COVID-19 Boss, Declares Olodo Infectious Disease Center Open

The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has assumed duty as the chairman, Oyo state COVID-19 Task Force.

You will recall that the governor after tested negative for COVID-19, tweeted that he will be back to duty on Monday, 6th of April 2020.

After a week break in isolation, governor Makinde alongside members of the state COVID-19 Task Force paid on the spot assessment visit to the infectious disease center, Olodo, Ibadan which he declared open for operation.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the inspection, Governor Makinde hinted that he has had a marathon debate with stakeholders concerned on how to ensure that the pandemic does not hinder the economy of Oyo state.

The governor who appreciated the citizens of Nigeria and residents of Oyo state for their prayers maintained that if he could overcome the virus, others who have contracted will also be healed.

He, however, noted that all hands are already on deck to ensure that no life is lost to the dreaded virus.

The Governor thereafter paid a visit to the Emergency Operating Centre (EOC) at the state secretariat to assess the state of alertness in fulfilling its mandate.
