The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, commissioned the 2 Division Officers’ Transit Camp at Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo Ibadan in a bid to assured a serene environment and shelter for newly deployed officers to the state.
The event which took place at the premises of the Nigerian Army 2 Div headquarters in Ibadan, had in attendance retired army chiefs, serving military men and monarchs.
In his speech, governor Makinde promised that the state government will extend its hospitality to the Odogbo Barracks, and pledged that in weeks to come the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment of the Nigerian Army will benefit from the ongoing second phase of the operation light up Oyo state.
The governor, however, expressed satisfaction over the modus operandi of the officers of the Nigerian Army, Noting that if the civil and public servants under is leadership could be as disciplined as they are, his workload and headache will be reduced.
In his remark, the general officer commanding, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major general Bamidele Omozoje, noted that all the recent projects executed at the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo Ibadan were inspired by the exemplary leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, towards improving the officers’ welfare.
He further said that the newly constructed transit camp will ease the accommodation challenges faced by the officers deployed to the 2 division of the Nigerian Army.
It would be recalled that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai had in June 2020, promised improved personnel welfare as he inaugurated accommodation for soldiers in Kano state.
