Over 270 South-West PDP leaders on Thursday, Meet in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital to find a lasting solution to the internal crisis that rocked the party at the last poll, forcing many of its mafias to defect.
The meeting held at the government house, Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan lasted for 2hours.
At the end of the meeting, the party issued a communique. Saying – having taken serious views of developments in the nation and region, and view of the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal verdict on the petitions of the Party and candidate, Atiku Abubakar, therefore, put on record their disappointment that justice was not done.
Speaking through its National Vice chairman, South-west, Mr. Eddy Olafeso, the party resolved to appeal against same at the Supreme Court.
The Party also takes serious notice of the students’ demonstration at the Federal University of Science, Oye Ekiti and the resultant killing of at least two students by the Police. And declare that it is callous and criminal of the Police to use live ammunition on unarmed student demonstrators, therefore demand that those responsible for the ugly incident must be fished out for trial.
Also speaking, the deputy national chairman, South, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, noted that plans are already underway to ensure that all who defected from the party return home.
In his remark, the Oyo state Governor, engineer Seyi Makinde who doubles as the host, declared total commitment to pave way for the party in the Southwestern states.
