Oyo State Government has been awarded the prestigious ‘Sustainability Award’ by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its outstanding commitment to Youth development and empowerment. The award was presented to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Dr Seun Fakorede, MNSE, at a grand ceremony held in the Federal Capital Territory on the 20th of May 2023. This recognition highlights the Government’s efforts in promoting sustainable development initiatives that directly impact the lives of young people.
The Sustainability Award is a significant milestone for the NYSC’s 50th-anniversary celebration, which reflects on the organisation’s rich history of fostering national unity, cultural integration, and personal development amongst Nigerian Youth. The award also serves as a call to action for other State Governments to emulate the Oyo State Government’s exemplary leadership in promoting sustainable development and Youth empowerment.
In his remarks, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, commended the Oyo State Government for its unwavering commitment to Youth development. He noted that the NYSC would continue to collaborate with the Government and other stakeholders to create more opportunities for Nigerian Youths to achieve their full potential.

The Sustainability Award to the Oyo State Government underscores the critical role of Governments in creating an enabling environment for young people to thrive and contribute to national development.
