Governor Makinde Shed Tears as His Mother Laid to Rest

It was an emotional time for all and sundry as the remains of the mother of the Oyo state governor, late Abigail Omojolagbe Makinde, was interred at the cemetery of the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan.

Mama Abigail omojolagbe Makinde Nee Omoregie died in the early hours of Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the age of 80.

The funeral service which was afterwards held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, was graced by dignitaries like the former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by his wife, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, Members of the Federal Executive Council, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Other notable persons at the funeral were, the chairman, governors of the Southwestern states, governor Rotimi Akeredolu, PDP national chairman, Uche Seconds, the former Governor of Oyo state, High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, service chiefs, monarchs, amongst other Dignitaries.

During his sermon, the Archbishop of Ibadan Diocese, Most Rev. Segun Okubadejo, said that late Abigail Omojolagbe Makinde lived a fulfilled life, and described her as an epitome of love.

He urged all and sundry to be their brothers’ keeper, number their days,  and bear in mind that death is inevitable.

Governor Makinde, in his tribute, said he has been finding it difficult to sleep since his mother died, as the bond between him and his mother was very strong.

Governor Makinde who could not hold his feelings, burst into tears as he showered encomium on his mother.
