A suspected armed robber has been reportedly set ablaze by an angry mob in the early hours of Friday in Ibadan.
According to a statement issued and made available to news by the Oyo state police command public relations officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi revealed that two hoodlums robbed an Okada rider of his motorcycle at Olomi area of Ibadan and took to their heels.
However, luck eventually ran out on them and they were cut up by other okada riders who were on their trail at 110 roundabout area of Odo-Ona Ibadan.
The residents of the area, angry mob, and other Okada riders descended on them before the arrival of the Police and unleash mayhem on the duo.
The statement reads that one out of the two armed robbers ran away, while one other was beaten to stupor and set ablaze thereafter.
Meanwhile, the act of jungle justice which has been common lately was condemned in its totality among Okada riders & any other groups by the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu.
He maintained that suspects are supposed to be handed over to the Police for investigation and prosecution to allow dignity in the society and not to be killed on the spot.
