The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Monday, said the state government will see to the reconstruction of police stations burnt during the wake of the #EndSARS protest.
The governor also stated that the families of the policemen killed during the protest will benefit from the N500 million compensation fund set up by the state government.
Governor Makinde disclosed these at the Eleyele police headquarters during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria police force.
According to the governor, the state commissioner of police has handed over to him a six-page requests of the Oyo state police command, and assured the police force that all the demands listed in the document will be addressed in due course.
While speaking on behalf of the inspector general of police, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Department of Research and Planning, DIG Adeleye Oyebade, charged the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Police Head of Departments to wake up to their constitutional responsibility in a bid to arrest and prosecute arsonists who unleashed mayhem on innocent citizens during the wake of the EndSARS protest.
In his remark, The Oyo state commissioner of police, CP Joe Enwonwu, lamented the gruesome murder of his men, noting that officers who went out on traffic duties recently were battered by hoodlums and were hospitalized while some policemen are still hunted to their houses till date.
Meanwhile, Oyo Affairs correspondent, gathered that the Oyo state police command has arrested three of the kidnappers who adducted the caretaker chairman of Iganna local council development area of Oyo State, Comrade Jacob Olayiwola Adeleke, and his driver on the 25th of October, 2020.
