I didn’t turn into a Cat During DSS Raid- Sunday Igboho

Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has confirmed that some of his cats were killed during a midnight raid conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS) on his residence in July 2021.

In an interview with The Punch, Igboho stated that the DSS officers indiscriminately fired bullets during the raid, leading to the death of several cats. He denied the rumours that he transformed into a cat to escape capture.

“It’s true that some cats were killed during the attack,” Igboho explained. “The DSS just kept firing bullets everywhere. I had many cats as pets, and any movement attracted their gunfire.”

He added, “Their mission was clear: either kill me or arrest me and take me to some unknown location. But God is greater than anyone, including the former president. My God and providence put them to shame with that illegal raid. They failed to achieve what they came for. I didn’t turn into a cat to escape.”

This revelation comes just days after the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja ordered the Benin Republic government to pay Igboho a sum of 20 million CFA as compensation for the raid and his illegal detention.

Igboho recently regained his freedom in Benin and has since reunited with his family in Germany.
