Ibadan Chiefs Hold Closed Door Meeting at Lekan Balogun’s Residence, Ladoja’s Absence Raises Eyebrows

Following the burial of Oba Saliu Adetunji, the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan, some Ibadan chiefs reportedly held a meeting today at the home of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Balogun, who is the next in line to the Olubadan throne.

The chiefs who met at the Ali Iwo home of High Chief Balogun on Monday afternoon include; the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Abdulateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe; the Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Olakuleyin; the Asipa Olubadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole; the Ekarun Olubadan, High Chief Amidu Ajibade, among others.

It was however gathered that the Osi Olubadan, Senator Rasheed Ladoja was not at the meeting.

Recall that the former Oyo state governor was the only high chief who attended Oba Adetunji’s burial and also the only chief that turned down the obaship title the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi conferred on others.

Ladoja had taken the then administration to court over the review of the chieftaincy titles.

As at press time, details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed although there are speculations that the chiefs met over the next line of action following the demise of Oba Adetunji on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
