Ibadan Comedian, Shete Blasts Buhari Over Naira Redesign Policy

An Ibadan-born comedian cum House of Assembly candidate in Oyo State, Akinsete Olakunle also known as Shete has criticised the naira redesign policy initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it is ill-timed.

Shete, who is vying to represent Ibadan South-West Constituency II at the State House of Assembly on the platform of Social Democratic Party, SDP stated on Friday that the cash crunch has distorted the informal sector in the Oyo State, and the country.

In his words: “I identify with the suffering of my people which is due to the ongoing fuel scarcity, inflation, insecurity leading to unwarranted frustrations. I feel what everyone is undergoing due to the currency swap and other implementations of new monetary policies are terrifying and undesirable.

“Regardless of the Federal Government’s intents with this cash swap, it is a wrong move and wrong-timed. Making other denominations available at the POS machines and bank counters ahead of the swap would have eased business transactions and organisational sectors of our economy.
